About This Quiz
For speed enthusiasts, fast cars are a passion, not just something to get you from point A to B (hence, the massive success of the “The Fast and the Furious” franchise). Although we certainly don’t recommend engaging in such risky fictional behavior, it’s pretty fun to take in a race and marvel over the crazy things these cars can do.
Once cars started to hit the roadways things accelerated quickly (pun totally intended). In 1908 when the first Model T’s hit the sales floor, the cars could only get up to about 40 miles per hour. By 1946, however, the British car Healey Elliot would max out at 104.65 mph easily leaving the now antiquated Model T (and just about everything else) in its dust. Of course, this car was intended for racing and hardly anyone had access to one, but it’s still pretty incredible to see what automotive engineering was able to do in a short period of time. Fast-forward to 2018, however, and the Hennessey Venom F5 would absolutely leave the Healey Elliot in its dust, with a top speed of 301 mph. The Venom shouldn’t get too cocky, though. If history has taught us anything it’s that it won’t hold the top spot for long!
