About This Quiz

It used to be easy to tell where a car was made. Buick? Easy, the U.S.A. Volvo? That was Sweden, of course. Well, times have changed. Carmakers have become global entities, and that means they’ve got manufacturing plants in different countries. 

Today, an “American” Buick might come from China or Germany. A “Swedish” Volvo might be made in a different European country or even the U.S.. In fact, even Mercedes and BMW build many of their cars and SUVs in the U.S. And, did you know that Rolls-Royce made cars in America in the 1920s? It’s true, but don't look for any in this quiz.

So, maybe you were confident that Volkswagens came from Germany, until you learned that they’re built in many countries, including the U.S. How about the current Honda Civic hatchback that’s popular in America .. from Japan, right? Well, they’re imported alright, but from a Honda plant in England. Meanwhile, the very English Jaguar Land Rover company is owned by an Indian company called Tata, though the vehicles are still made in England.

And how about Bugatti? Sounds Italian, doesn’t it? The original Bugatti company was founded by an Italian man, Ettore Bugatti, but the beautiful cars the company made were built in … wait, you’ll have to dive into this quiz to find out!

The Aston Martin DB5 became famous as James Bond's car. Where was it made?

Even if it had not become world famous as fictitious British special agent James Bond’s gadget-packed car in the 1964 film “Goldfinger,” the Aston Martin DB5 would still be a classic. This high-performance grand tourer was produced from 1963 to 1965 with about 1,050 hand-built, including 123 convertibles.
