About This Quiz

"Top Gear" was a love letter to gearheads — first to those in Britain and then for those around the world.

When the hosts left that program, it looked as if their ride was over, but they soon landed on Amazon with a new show, "The Grand Tour," which combined bits from "Top Gear" with new ideas and fresh takes. Ever wonder which host was your "spirit mechanic"? Well, we can tell you if you'll just rate a few automobiles for us!

The British Broadcasting Company's show "Top Gear" first hit the airwaves in 2002 and gave gearheads in the United Kingdom an outlet to live out their motorized fantasies week after week. The program evolved over the years, gaining in popularity and becoming a worldwide phenomenon. The show's hosts — Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May — became widely known for their adventures (and mishaps) with the vehicles in each episode and were loved for it.

Disagreements with management over things said both on and off the air started to dog Clarkson in 2014, however. After allegations by one of the show's producers about physical and verbal abuse, the BBC issued Clarkson his walking papers in 2015. When co-hosts Hammond and May made good on their stance that they wouldn't continue without him and quit the show, that chapter of "Top Gear" closed, and the show began the next series with new hosts.

Clarkson, Hammond and May weren't done with televising their automotive adventures, however. In 2016, Amazon Studios brought the three together again for a new show for Amazon Prime Video: "The Grand Tour."
